The ultimate weapon is team. Squad up and fight alongside the iconic operators of Task Force 141 with the return of Modern Warfare®. Activision has finally dropped the long-awaited trailer for the sequel to one of the most celebrated entries in the franchise.

What to Expect

Modern Warfare 2 takes players back through a series of international missions led by the beloved Task Force 141 — a tight-knit, elite special operations unit. Returning characters include Captain Price, Soap MacTavish, Ghost, and Alejandro Vargas, commanding the Los Vaqueros.

"No matter what, we complete the mission." — Captain Price

The trailer showcases incredible set pieces: rooftop chases across Amsterdam, underwater stealth missions, and large-scale military assaults. The visual fidelity has been pushed significantly — environments feel tangible, lighting is cinematic, and character animations are the most fluid ever seen in the series.

Multiplayer and Campaign

While the campaign teases are thrilling, fans are equally eager for what the multiplayer will bring. Based on leaks and early builds, MW2 will feature revamped movement mechanics, a new Invasion mode that merges battle royale-scale player counts with round-based gameplay, and a long-awaited overhaul of the Spec Ops cooperative mode.

Release Details

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to launch on October 28, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Early access for campaign begins October 20 for players who pre-order the game.

The beta period is expected to begin in late September — first exclusively for PlayStation owners, followed by an open beta for all platforms. This will give fans a taste of the multiplayer before the full release.
